This print is much sharper and cleaner than the existing IA copy, plus it is in the correct aspect ratio. A lavishly produced wartime propaganda epic with an all-star cast. Like the film "Mission to Moscow" its purpose was to boost support for our Russian ally. It opens as a lighthearted semi-musical, but then abruptly erupts in violence and stark tragedy as the Nazis attack, invade and occupy a peaceful Ukrainian village. Corny at times, over the top at times, yet there is no denying this film's power. Directed by Lewis Milestone. Released in 1943 (see Special Note). Complete print.

A musical war bond drive promotional short, which actually was produced and released after the end of WW2. You will notice war bonds are now called "victory bonds." Appearances by Bob Hope, Bing Crosby, Alan Ladd, Humphrey Bogart, Betty Hutton and others.

This clip is an extract from "Combat America", Part 4 (1945) and shows the bombing of Northern Germany during World War II in colour. The narrator is Clark Gable. Extract by Eva Vikström, August 2007. - The reason for uploading this clip was this question: Could the Nazi regime have been stopped without this heavy bombing, without the enormous suffering of civilians? Lloyd Bridges stars as secret agent X-9, in this series that is based on a comic strip. Released in 1945, the action takes place in 1943, during WWII. There's no real secret to this agent, everyone on Shadow Island calls him "X-9," and knows he is an agent for the United States. Shadow Island is neutral, and the Japanese agents are also known. There is one person that is truly undercover, and another that is kept a secret, until the final chapter. X-9 wants whatever the Japanese are after; but doesn't know it's a formula for turning distilled water into aviation fuel.
