Testing the result of massive underground explosions by the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission during Operation Dugout in 1960.

This is Clip 3 from the Twenty-second Archive release of our stock footage. This clip is some Chroma Key material that got out of Hand. It started out as material that I intended to posterize as a backdrop, but it looked so neat I had to share it. I noticed it looks a bit blurry on Quicktime, but the better quality clips look very interesting. This footage is from my personal collection. I have tried to organize these clips with titles and countdowns so they are easier to use.

This is a new sound composite, produced by C. E. Price, of news footage of the Hindenburg explosion and Herb Morrison's reporting of the event. Both video and audio are in the public domain, as well as this particular composite. Other composites, similar to this one, could be in copyright. This one is free and clear to do with what you wish. The entire film can be downloaded at: http://www.archive.org/details/hindenberg_explodes

This is a clip of the Hydrogen Bomb test at Enewetak Atoll on November 1, 1952, and the first time one was exploded. The fireball was big enough to cover most of Manhattan Island. This clip show more of the aftermath of the nuclear cloud than do most films.

Usually shown in black and white, this is the original color version (slightly edited) of the 1955 atom bomb test in Nevada, showing the effects on test houses and utilities located at various distances from the blast.
