"The Penalty" (1920) is a powerful crime drama, in which Lon Chaney delivers one of his most memorable performances.  

An inexperienced doctor needlessly amputates a boy's legs after a traffic accident.  The boy grows up to be a criminal mastermind, determined to revenge himself on society and on the doctor that crippled him for life a long time ago.

"The Hunchback of Notre Dame" is a historical drama based on Victor Hugo's novel  featuring Patsy Ruth Miller, a star of Silent Hall of Fame. 

It is the film, in which Patsy Ruth Miller played her most famous and critically acclaimed role.  Lon Chaney is powerful as ever, and with this film achieved a true star status.  Norman Kerry, Ernest Torrence and the supporting cast deliver fine performances as well.

Nanette Roland lives an unhappy existence in the Northwoods; her father dies leaving her no money, and her fiancee, Raoul Challoner, has gone off trapping for pelts, and has disappeared. She does not want to marry Duncan McDougall's son, Buck, until she is convinced that Raoul is dead. Buck fabricates evidence that Raoul is dead, and Nanette reluctantly agrees to marry him. She is about to be wed when Raoul returns and spirits her away from the ceremony. Raoul and Nanette are married, but Buck goads Raoul into a fight, during which one of Buck's men, Black Marat, is accidentally killed.

After his mine is stolen a miner becomes obseessed with plotting revenge against the man who stole his mine.

Lon Chaney plays a wheelchair bound master criminal.

David Webster escapes from prison after 15 years, having been framed by Fletcher Burton, a prominent businessman. He hides out with Li Fang, a Chinese politician and former friend of Webster's. In order to move about the city undetected, he disguises himself as a cripple, dragging himself about on a pair of crutches. At a local mission, he meets his daughter, a young girl known as "The Angel Lady" because of her many kindly deeds and good works. She befriends the cripple, unaware of his identity, and the two play songs together, he on violin and the girl on piano.

Betrayed by his fellow criminals, Lon Chaney, Jr. is executed, but has his chance for revenge when he is reanimated by a scientist. (This copy seems to have no gaps.) Find out more at the IMDB.
