The first Chinese animated feature film. This a a heavily denoised, high bitrate (1800 kbps) version that some people may find easier to watch than other versions of the same film due to reduced video noise and improved luminance level. The audio track has not been enhanced. The resolution of this video is 688x416, which represents the actual image area after the black bars have been cropped from the original.

A successful general returns home from battle to live in luxury. He drinks, stops practicing his skills and leaves his weapons to rust. He is arrogant and self-assured. When the enemy once again attacks he finds himself unable to defend himself or the country. Subtitles:

Shanghai, 1935. The beautiful young girl Xiao Hong is a singer at a teahouse. She falls in love with her neighbor, a handsome young musician called Xiao Chen. Their windows face each other, and Xiao Chen often entertains Xiao Hong with magic tricks through the window. When Xiao Hong discovers that her boss indends to sell her to a rich teahouse customer who has taken a liking to her, Xiao Chen and his eccentric bunch of friends do all they can to stop it. From the Wikipedia entry for "The Toll of the Sea": "The Toll of the Sea is a 1922 American motion picture, directed by Chester M. Franklin, produced by the Technicolor Motion Picture Corporation, and released by Metro Pictures in 1922, featuring Anna May Wong in her first leading role. It was the eighth color feature film, the second Technicolor feature, the first color feature made in Hollywood, and the first color feature anywhere that did not require a special projector to be shown. The original camera negative survives except for the final 2 reels.
