Seamen Enoch Arden (Alfred Paget) returns home after a long absence marooned on a desert island. At home he finds his wife (Lillian Gish) married to another (Wallace Reid), and though he loves her, he cannot bear to disrupt her current happiness.

In 1916 the Biograph film company signed black comedian Bert Williams to write, produce, direct and star in two comedies. Williams created "A Natural Born Gambler" and "Fish." While hardly a breakthrough in shattering racial stereotypes (Williams was required by the studio to wear "darkie" makeup), a black production with a black cast was unprecedented. The response was tepid and Williams did not appear in any movies after Fish. Gambler borrows from Williams' Vaudeville skits.

"The General", a thrilling comedy about the Civil War, lifted Buster Keaton from the ashes of oblivion decades after his name and legacy were forgotten.  Audiences and critics in the 1920ies did not appreciate this extraordinary masterpiece, but Buster Keaton always regarded "The General" as his best film.  Today he is totally vindicated and the world agrees with him.

"The Beloved Rogue" is a historical romantic drama featuring John Barrymore and Marceline Day, a star of Silent Hall of Fame.

An old proprietor is startled by the sudden appearance of a skull. Just as he draws back from the uncanny object, the doors of a medieval wardrobe fly back and a hand prods him with a sword. He turns to confront his assailant when it vanishes, and at the same instant the skull flies to the other end of the room. He clutches at the skull, when it turns into the half form of a girl from the waist up, suspended in mid-air.

Silent comedy legends Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle and Mabel Normand at the 1915 San Francisco World's Fair Panama-Pacific Exposition. The theme of the expo was the newly built Panama Canal, and it also focused on San Francisco's newly rebuilt infrastructure following the earthquake of 1906.
