The Red Balloon (French: Le Ballon rouge) is a 1956 fantasy short film, directed by French filmmaker Albert Lamorisse. The thirty-four minute short, which follows the adventures of a young boy who one day finds a sentient, mute, red balloon, was filmed in the Menilmontant neighborhood of Paris, France. It won numerous awards, including an Oscar for Lamorisse for writing the best original screenplay in 1956 and the Palme d'Or for short films at Cannes. The film also became popular with children and educators.

Ray 'Crash' Corrigan, a recent graduate of Annapolis, travels with Professor Norton, his Son Billy, and plucky reporter Diana Compton to the Undersea Kingdom of Atlantis to locate the cause of series of earthquakes. When they arrive Crash and his friends become embroiled in battle between warring Atlanteans.

It is a first part of collection of short film created by The Edison Manufacturing Co. and Thomas A. Edison, Inc. from the years 1891-1898. Some of this movies are already on Internet Archive, but I thought it would be great have them all in one place.
