Spirit Of St. Louis

Charles Lindberg returns to America and is greeted with fame, adulation, and a ticker tape parade in Washington D.C. This clip has been reedited from the original.

Lindberg lands at the Paris airport where thousands wait for him. After touchdown, Lindberg's plane is mobbed by hysterical fans. By making the first solo transatlantic flight, the youthful "Lone Eagle" had captured the imagination and the adulation of the word.

Charles Lindberg takes off in the "Spirit Of St. Louis" on the first transatlantic flight, 1927. The trip nearly ended before it began. "Lucky Lindy's" monoplane was so loaded down with fuel that he barely cleared the trees at the end of the runway. This clip was slightly edited from the original.
