"Those Awful Hats" is a very short comedy directed by D.W. Griffith, featuring Robert Harron, Florence Lawrence and cinematographer Billy Bitzer, stars of Silent Hall of Fame.

This is a rare attempt at comedy by D.W. Griffith.  Florence Lawrence gets credit for the film, but it is hard to spot her in the audience, unlike a very young Robert Harron, who has a prominent role together with Mack Sennett.

"The Curtain Pole" is a short comedy directed by D.W. Griffith, featuring Florence Lawrence, Arthur Johnson and cinematographer Billy Bitzer, stars of Silent Hall of Fame.

A house party is interrupted when a curtain pole breaks.  The lady of the house (Florence Lawrence) wants to take care of the problem but one of the guests (Mack Sennett) volunteers to run to the hardware store and get a replacement.  On his way back he causes mayhem on every step of the way. Arthur Johnson plays several small roles, among which are a vegetable vendor and a party guest.

Silent Hall of Fame is the only place where we actively work to bring back from oblivion the names and legacy of formerly illustrious silent movie stars, which have made a major contribution to the industry and the world but do not have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

"Lucky Jim" is a short comedy directed by D.W. Griffith, featuring cinematographer Billy Bitzer, a star of Silent Hall of Fame.

Arthur V. Johnson and Florence Lawrence have bit parts as wedding guests.

We trust that silent film lovers will not judge harshly the quality of the print. Many early D.W. Griffith films are only available in a paper print format, and we are all very lucky that they have survived the trials of time for us to enjoy.

"Politician's Love Story" is a short comedy directed by D.W. Griffith, featuring Arthur Johnson and cinematographer Billy Bitzer, stars of Silent Hall of Fame. Florence Lawrence also gets a credit for the film, but it is difficult to spot her.  We did see and took a picture of D.W. Griffith as he makes a little acting appearance in addition to the director's job (see it on our website silent-hall-of-fame.org.).

"Faithful" is a short comedy directed by D.W. Griffith, featuring Arthur V. Johnson and cinematographer Billy Bitzer, stars of Silent Hall of Fame.

"The Little Darling" is a very short comedy directed by D.W. Griffith. The film is included in our program to illustrate the work of actor Arthur Johnson and cinematographer Billy Bitzer, stars of Silent Hall of Fame.

A bunch of bachelors in a boarding house receive the news that a little girl will pay a visit.  However, after all buy toys, they get a big surprise.

"Barney Oldfield's Race for a Life" is a short comedy directed by Mack Sennett.  The film is included in our program to illustrate the contributions of Helen Holmes, a star of Silent Hall of Fame.

Barney Oldfield was the fastest auto racer in his time.  In the film he chases an engine to rescue a girl chained to the tracks by an evil unsuccessful suitor.

The way Ford Sterling overplays the role of the villain makes one think that the film was conceived as a parody of contemporary melodramas.

Cast: William Collier Sr. (a meek husband), Blanche Payson (his wife), Joseph Belmont (his brother-in-law), Alice Davenport (his mother-in-law), Mae Busch (a speedy stenographer).
