Franklin D. Roosevelt

"Let me assert my firm belief, that the only thing we have to fear, is fear itself." That famous sentence isn't included in the Universal Newsreel Extra Special from the inauguration, but you'll hear it in "Hear and Now" (1958), an excellent movie about the radio. This clip is an extract from that movie - http://www.archive.org/details/HearandN1958. Anyone interested must not miss the Open Mind Special about March 4th 1933 - http://www.archive.org/details/openmind_ep195.

Some people may have searched the Internet Archive for moving images of people in the Roosevelt staff and found Henry Morgenthau talking about bonds, an impressive speech by Henry Wallace and Harry Hopkins inspecting the work of WPA. You can catch a glimpse of other people as well. This is a collection of such glimpses. Henry A.

These clips deal with the New Deal. They include six of Franklin D. Roosevelt's Fireside Chats on the economic policy for fighting the Great Depression. All clips are somewhat edited partial Universal Newsreels. In these recordings Roosevelt reads shortened versions of the speeches.
